Dale Ford joined the SAS counseling office in 1999.  He is the current department chair, assuming that role in 2001 and is a counselor for students in grades 11 and 12. Dale is originally from Illinois, and as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, has been a Psychologist, High School Counselor, and Coordinator of Special Education. He moved to Japan in 1990 and became the Director of Guidance and College Counseling at the Canadian Academy, an international school in Kobe.

Dale was the President of the Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling in 2004-2005 and was a member of the Executive Board from 1997 until 2006. In addition to serving as the President, he as held the positions of Vice President for Admission Practices, Secretary, and Webmaster. For five years he was a Delegate for overseas counselors to the Assembly of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and was the Chief Delegate in 2005-2006. He has also been a member of the NACAC Seal of Approval review panel, and attended NACAC's Leadership Development Institute in 2003, 2004, and 2005.

Dale was honored by NACAC in 2005 and received a plaque in recognition of his "dedication and integrity while honorably serving as the President of the Overseas Association." In 2007 OACAC presented him with the Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his outstanding service to the association. Dale developed OACAC’s first website, and was instrumental in raising the association’s stature so that it could better fulfill its mission, which is “to facilitate global interaction among counselors and institutions in support of students in their transition from secondary to higher education.”

Dale served on the fist Advisory Board of Naviance, the company that owns the world's leading guidance management system. Naviance is the company behind SAS's Family Connection.

In addition to visiting a large number of college campuses, Dale has attended college admission conferences at Harvard, University of North Carolina, and Santa Clara University. He has presented workshops at several US and international conferences. He can be reached at dford@sas.edu.sg.
