Career Information

About one-half of the students who begin college or university in the U.S. have "undeclared" majors. In other words, they aren't exactly sure what kind of career they would like and take a variety of courses to help narrow their focus. Many institutions encourage undeclared majors and at some, students are not even allowed to list a major at the time they apply.

Personality/Career Assessment

Log in to Family Connection Students have all been given log-in information to Family Connection. If you can't remember yours, see your counselor.

"Do What You Are" is a self discovery assessment, can be accessed by clicking "my personality type." It can point you to careers and college majors specific to your interests. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete this assessment.

Also on Family Connection, students will find two links under "About Careers:"

  • Explore careers -- Look up careers by name or keyword. Once you locate matching careers, you can review detailed career profiles including descriptions, wage data, and (in many cases) videos.
  • Explore interests -- Complete the Career Interest Profile and generate Holland codes describing your interests.
