Science
The goal of science education at SAS is to develop scientifically literate individuals who understand and appreciate the interrelationships of science, technology, and society. After the introductory levels, the varied course offerings in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Science offer learning opportunities to students at all levels, from those desiring an applied approach which can easily be related to everyday life, to those looking for the challenge of the Advanced Placement level. In addition, various extra-curricular experiences are offered through SAVE, the student run environmental service club, as well as the Medical Explorers Club. Although one year of life science and one year of physical science is the minimum graduation requirement, nearly all SAS graduates complete three years of science and a significant number earn four or more science credits.
