Students, Parents and Guardians

It is a great time to be a student at SAS. Singapore American School continues to grow at an
unprecedented rate and we anticipate that we will reach the 1100 student mark this year. Even though we are faced with large numbers it is our goal at the high school to make this large school feel ‘small’. We will once again feature a great student body, a terrifi c faculty and staff and outstanding facilities on a beautiful campus. Interim Semester will be better than ever, and I am confident SAS will excel in IASAS conference activities.

This handbook/planner is designed to be of signifi cant value to you. Please consider using it as both areference book and a great way to keep organized. Many students fi nd it an essential part of their daily school life right along with their textbooks and backpacks. Check it out.

For over 50 years SAS has been offering a high quality education to a wide variety of students and
families from all over the world. I like to think that each year that quality gets better and better. Each year the high school offers more courses, more extracurricular activities, more and better facilities and more students to learn from and enjoy. Students certainly have lots of choices to make concerning courses and activities. Whether you enjoy drama or physics, art history or dance, robotics or calculus, basketball or Japanese Language, the SAS high school offers you a chance to excel.

I honestly believe most students at SAS are very proud of the school and are pleased to be here. Whether you are a veteran student or a new one, I challenge you to do your part to help SAS to be not just a very good school – but a great one! You can help by showing up as a hardworking and pleasant person who treats others with respect. At SAS we take the cornerstone values of respect, responsibility, honesty, fairness and compassion very seriously. We want to be a school where acting with honor and integrity is important. I do know it is cool to be a good student and a good citizen at SAS; you don’t have to be shy about working hard or enjoying learning.

Parents and guardians, please know you are welcome here on campus. You are an important part of our school community and we hope you will be pleased with what you see.

Once again, welcome to the 2006-2007 school year. On behalf of Deputy Principal Mr. Doug Neihart and all of the faculty and staff, I wish you a memorable year characterized by good friends and excellent learning experiences.

Best Regards,
Mr. David Norcott
High School Principal
